Association of Dementia Care Professionals

As part of The Dementia Support Network’s continued work to make dementia care in Western Australia we have created the Association of Dementia Care Professionals.

Dementia is our leading cause of death in Australia and yet we lack the professional standard authorities to give the families and care providers the confidence in knowing they have professionals working for them that have been verified to have not only the credentials but hold the core values that we expect when working with our vulnerable members of our society.

Enhance Professional Development

Provide ongoing education, certification programs, and training opportunities for dementia care professionals.

Advance Research & Innovation in Care

Support and promote evidence-based care practices.

Strengthen Advocacy & Public Awareness

Influence policies, raise awareness, and improve societal understanding of dementia-related issues.

Facilitate Collaboration & Networking

Build a strong community of professionals and caregivers to exchange knowledge and best practices.

Improve Standards of Care

Establish guidelines and resources to ensure high-quality dementia care across different settings.

Support Caregivers & Families

Support and promote evidence-based care practices.

Memberships

Professional

$450 per year (excl gst)

Full Professional Membership is available to individuals who work specifically in the dementia field. For professional membership you must be degree qualified and show at least 2 years dementia specific involvement. The latter must be confirmed by confirmation of employment in a dementia specific area or approved by the DSNWA Board.

Includes:

  • Free entry into all internally organised professional presentations

  • Included in the directory of professional members given out to public and industry

  • Access to free or discounted training, workshops, and seminars

  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs

  • Access to industry publications

  • Invitations to industry conferences and events

  • Special interest groups or committees

  • Online forums and member directories for connecting with peers

  • Reduced fees for events, training, or conferences

  • Discounts on partner products or services

Associate - Monthly Newsletter

$250 per year (excl gst)

Associate Membership is available to individuals who have a diploma or higher and non-specific work in the dementia field.

Includes:

  • Access to free or discounted training, workshops, and seminars

  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs

  • Access to industry publications

  • Invitations to industry conferences and events

  • Special interest groups or committees

  • Online forums to connect with peers

  • Reduced fees for events, training, or conferences

  • Discounts on partner products or services

  • Certificate of membership

Student - Monthly Newsletter

$80 per year (excl gst)

Student Membership is available to individuals currently studying in a course related / including dementia care.

Includes:

  • Access to free or discounted training, workshops, and seminars

  • Invitations to industry conferences and events

  • Special interest groups or committees

  • Online forums to connect with peers

  • Reduced fees for events, training, or conferences

  • Discounts on partner products or services

  • Monthly Newsletter

  • Certificate of membership

Membership requirements

Requirements for all memberships is that a police clearance and all qualification evidence be produced upon application. If there is any query over the type of membership an applicant is applying for, the decision will go before the DSNWA board who will determine the outcome. The outcome of the board decision is final.

 

All applications must be accompanied by a signed copy of DSNWA’s Voluntary code of conduct.
